Types of Skin

Normal Skin:
Normal skin is in general smooth, soft form and has an even texture. The surface is very smooth. It is clean with no greasy patches or flaky regions. It is a symbol of good health, good blood circulation and probably free from any infection. Women may get pimples during menstruation due to increased hormonal activity. However it is not a problem for others. This kind of skin yet requires care. When neglected it will mark ageing and winkles all over.
Oily Skin:
An only skin is made out of over secretion of serum. The excess oil on the skin invites a lot of dirt and dust from the surroundings. It is thick and dull colored and prone to black heads. The pores on the Skin are enlarged. There are a number of causes meant for an oily skin; they are hereditary, diet, weather, hormone levels etc., It is common in among teenagers due to hormonal transfer. There is a kind of combination skin which means the skin is oily in some areas and dry in some other areas.
Dry Skin:
It is a product of low level sebum. It is unable to retain moisture and looks dry. The skin on the body is hard and tight and makes more uncomfortable. The skin is dehydrated and has a number of crakes on it. It may be due to extreme temperature and the conditions through which air gets transferred which cause this skin to flake and feel hard. It is also tightly bound on bones and looks dull around eyes and cheeks. There are also small lines found.
Combination Skin:
There is a combination of dry and oily skin which is hurled as a combination skin. It can be oily on the nose and dry on cheeks. We can identity this skin with the dry tissue papers. Most of us have only this kind of a skin. This requires care. You can wash it with mild cleansers. Astringents can be used on oily parts and moisturizers can be applied on dirty portions. If these parts are not treated dry patches will be found all over the face. In the early morning, after getting up from bed, you may spread the oil from the oily portion to all over the face and wash it with no soap.
Sensitive Skin:
This type of skin is a fine thing yet it is sensitive to various things. The skin is sensitive and may show reactions to dust, dirk, sunlight, creams, soaps and lotions. You have to be very careful while using anything on this kind of skin. You can go for some mild products and natural products to make it clean. Perfumed soaps and lotions are to be avoided.

This topic was discussed on my Science class way back in high school. From there, it was set on my mind that there are just four types of skin. Reading this post is like broadening up my knowledge. Now I know that there is a fifth type of skin, the Combination Skin.
